I have had a grizzly g1007 mill drill (round column) for 15 years. The crank to raise and lower the head stock has always been a bear to raise and at my mature age it's becoming the xxxxxx. My question is: Has anyone ever come up with a way to use a power feed (store bought or home made) to raise and lower the head stock.

There are also some other quality mills that are lesser known like Tree, Clausing and Hardinge (usually known for lathes). If you can get a mill with a knee, most of the other mill/drill tips here will prove unnecessary. If you have to get a mill/drill, try to get the heavier model. It's often known as a #30, like my Grizzly G1006.
